Bob Merritt’s most personal film project, Short Changed was described by its author as 'an Aboriginal Kramer vs Kramer': the moving account of an Aboriginal political activist (David Kennedy) fighting his white ex-wife (Susan Leith) for joint custody of their ‘magpie son’. Unflinching and unsentimental in its subtle grasp of modern, urban Aboriginal society’s conflicting social obligations to two cultures.
