Biography
Raj Jawa, a native of Culver City, moved to Santa Clarita, California with his family in the late 1980's. He attended the local College of the Canyons, eventually finding a home in the Radio, TV and Film department and graduated with an Associates Degree in Film and Video Production in 2008. Jawa briefly attended the film program at California State University Northridge but left after one semester, setting out to actively start working on short films with friend and filmmaker Diego Miranda who he'd met in film classes at College of the Canyons. They would work together under the banner of mbcFilms until the end of 2012 when Jawa became eager to do more acting. He'd acted in two short films written and directed by Miranda, I'm Not Real (2012) and Fourth (2011);' both films well praised in personal circles but were never given an opportunity with a very wide audience. For the next two years, Jawa would act in almost fifty projects including student and independent short films, internet and spec commercials, PSAs, web series, music videos, a TV pilot, and a court TV show. Near the end of 2014, he was approached by and signed with Global Talent Agency. In May 2014, following the advice of a friend, Jawa established a film production company under the name Garaj Pictures with the intention of moving into producing big idea feature films on smaller-sized budgets. Almost one year later, in March of 2015, Garaj Pictures wrapped principal photography on its first feature film Shadow's Fall with a release date expected for later this year.
